ARTIST TRADING CARDS
are miniature works of art created on 2 ½ X 3 ½ inch or 64 X 89 mm card stock.
Made with the intention of trading with others the works are originals,
small editions and most importantly, self-produced. This is a truly democratic project as
anyone can make cards for trading. The ideal situation is to meet occasionally
for trading
sessions.
The project was initiated in 1997 by Zurich
artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann. since then several hundred people from all over the world have traded ATCs at
TRADING SESSIONS, via postal mail or by participating in COPY-LEFT EDITIONS trading
sessions.
Women
artists are invited to participate in SISTER
TRADING CARDS - the all-girl trading card set. This is not a sexist
project at all but simply a novel way to encourage the making and trading of
ATCs.
